COACHES CORNER

Understanding the "passing game" from both the offensive and defensive side of the ball is easier said than done.  The Coaches Corner was created with that in mind.  The YGPL has assembled a staff of "coaching consultants" that have 20 plus years of high school, college, and even professional experience not only as players, but as coaches as well.  This staff specializes in the passing game and will address such things as defensive coverages (cover 0,1,2,3,4) and the appropriate blitz packages that go with them.  Offensively, there is nobody better to learn from than these three ex QB's when it comes to passing schemes (1,3, and 5 step drop, play action, boot and rollout).  The main objective will be to not only improve your knowledge of next level coverages and passing schemes, but also to tie those schemes into what you will be doing with your team in the fall.  These coaches also run the Young Guns Player Development program and thus have a very good understanding of what kids are capable of executing based on age and skill level.

The following "coaching consultants" are available at your request:  CLICK HERE  to inquire about setting something up.

Tim Thenell:  Director and founder of Young Guns Player Development where he continues to develop the states top passers every year.  Three year starter at Western State College, consistantly in the top 5 in Division II pass efficiency.  Bear Creek High School's passing game coordinator has led the state in passing over ten times and BCHS QB Coach since 1996.  Has acted as an "offensive consultant"  (coordinating passing game) for other 5A programs in the state including Heritage High School.  Tim has also worked with over twenty youth coaches to help them coordinate a passing game that compliments their running game.  Click here for Tim Thenell Bio.

Justin Holland: Considered by many the most talented and developed QB in CSU history.  Still holds the majority of the high school passing records in Colorado and more than a hand full nationally.  Colorado's all time leading passer has had brief stints with the Miami Dolphins and Winnipeg Blue Bombers.  Continues to work with CSU QB's during the season and much of the off season.  Has worked with over fifty QB's in the Young Guns PD from the ages of 10-22 in the past three years.  Justin Holland Bio.

Sherdrick Bonner:   Coach Sed was recently named one of the 20 Greatest Players in AFL history (No. 8) as part of the league’s 2006 celebration of its first 20 seasons. Sed played 14 seasons with the Arizona Ratttlers and one season with the Chicago Rush where he leads the AFL in most offensive categories.  Brief NFL stints for Sed include the Arizona Cardinals, San Diego Chargers, and Atlanta Falcons.  Has been working with QB's and WR's (ages 8-18) in the Young Guns PD for two years.  Sed Bonner Bio.
